Fine quality Ajrakh block printed modal silk fabric made using natural dyes through traditional the Ajrakh technique of hand-block printing practiced by artisans in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India.

Modal silk is a soft, shiny and highly lustrous fabric, achieved through interlacing modal fibers (derived from beech trees) and silk yarns. it has the opulence of silk and the comfort of cotton. 
Ajrakh is a traditional vegetable dyeing and resist block-printing technique on cloth. It is estimated to be around 4,500 years old. The Ajrakh artisans in India are originally from Sindh (Pakistan) and they migrated to Kutch in Gujarat and Barmer in Rajasthan.

The process of Ajrakh is a long drawn process with many stages and the layers of colour are printed a day apart.

Ajrakh is the traditional attire of the Maldhari pastoral community of Bhuj.
