This fabulous floral cushion cover was hand embroidered in Kashmir, India using crewel or hook embroidery. The embroidery technique is locally known as Zalakdozo and it can be found on every fabric and in many forms including clothing, shawls, floor rugs and cushion covers.
All embroidery in Kashmir is done by men and is a hereditary craft: the son is apprenticed in his father's workshop from the age of 8 or 10 years.
