Our donations

Kasu is on a mission to make the world a better place by the shopping and travel choices we make. 10% of our profits at Kasu Emporium are donated to help people living in poverty in India and Australia.

In India, Kasu has been supporting Lok Samiti with their excellent programs for many years, with both financial donations and by teaching in the village school.  Half of our donations will be sent to help Lok Samiti with their programs.

Lok Samiti is a Non Government Organisation, based at the village of Nagepur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It works on many levels in the community to improve the lives of poor people through self-dependence, leadership and the empowerment of adolescent girls and women; mainstream education for deprived children through the Asha Social School; academic and cultural programs to promote gender equality; protection of human rights; caste and dowry free group weddings; advocacy for social change and non-violent protests to protect human rights.

One of Lok Samiti's major projects saw the closure of a Coca Cola bottling plant near Mehndiganj village as the plant was illegally taking groundwater which caused the supply of water to the village to go from 'safe' to 'critical' in 10 years.

Kasu has contributed to the education of a girl from the village from primary school to graduation from high school.

More recently, Lok Samiti have packed and distributed thousands of food parcels for people who have lost their income due to the Covid19 pandemic. Kasu was proud to raise funds to help with this project.

In Australia, we are sending the other half of our donations to Foodbank,  Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front line charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians. Foodbank provides more than 70% of the food rescued for food relief organisations nation-wide.
