This fabulous cushion cover is the result of a cross cultural project of Aboriginal designs and traditional Kashmiri rug-making techniques.
Using hand dyed wool and chain stitch embroidery, this is a totally handmade piece.
The artist, Karen Barnes, has control and ownership of the intellectual property. Purchase of this products guarantees a direct return to the Aboriginal artist and their community.
The story of this design:
Karen is an animal lover. As well as Jukurrpa (Dreaming Stories) Karen paints birds and other animals that live in and surround the community at Yuendumu. This lively dog is one of the local residents. The art centre at Yuendumu, Walrukurlangu, has funded a healthy dogs program, successfully improving the life of the dogs as well as the residents.

Hand-wash in warm water using a wool detergent. Iron on a wool setting.
