The background fabric is 'shot' with dark blue thread in the weft and pale yellow in the warp, giving it a slight shimmer.
Kalamkari is the earliest of block-printing techniques inspired by traditional Kalamkari painting.
Mangalgiri fabrics are handwoven in the town of Mangalgiri, Andra Pradesh, India. Made from pure cotton yarns, it is known for its durability and softness. Traditionally, the weavers use pit looms, sitting at ground level with their feet below the ground in the pit to enable them to apply the correct pressure on the loom to create the tightness of the weave.
